Dog Nail Clipping - Beat The Problem Dog
Dog Nail Clipping - Beat The Problem Dog
I came across this article from Steve Gaskin and i think it can help some people.
We have five dogs that share our lives with us. My wife Julie takes care of almost all of our dog care, including clipping their nails. Four of our dogs are no problem when it comes to nail clipping -- but one of them is a real handful!
Kara absolutely hates having her toenails clipped, to the point where she will try to bite to stop Julie from clipping! We've tried disciplining her -- muzzling her -- and just plain forcing her to accept what really is a very minor procedure! Muzzling has proven to be extremely effective, though Julie still finds herself wondering whether she may be hurting the dog, whilst doing the nails! But we've hit on a new solution...
Now, for Kara and all the others too -- we choose a totally different method and one that we can highly recommend! We use a cordless Dremel tool, to grind away the nails, rather than cutting them! The Dremel can use rechargeable batteries so that this simple little engraving tool can also become a highly effective nail file -- and what we've discovered is that because there is no cutting -- the dogs and Kara in particular, no longer mind the nail trimming process!
The once difficult (and quite powerful) Kara has become a placid, well behaved little Staffordshire Bull Terrier - who no longer struggles and fights!
So if you have a problem dog when it comes to nail clipping -- we would highly recommend that you try this wonderful, versatile and amazing tool for your own home doggie boutique!

Julie is a lovely lady, we were on the waiting list for her last litter, unfortunately only one little boy survived. She and her Hubby are great Staffy lovers, she also has great doggie recipes too, that I use for my girls, and they just love it!
With the nail trimmer, just remember that it can get "warm" on the nails, so do in short spurts when trimming.
Here are their websites, some good info on them.
