Orijen ....

Post by MONTY on Wed 10 Jun 2009, 22:35

Now in process of swapping Angel from Arden Grange to Orijen .
No real reason just thought i'd try her on it .
Done a lot of reading up and seems a very good product .
Of late she seemed a bit fussy with her food , something I think is caused because I work away a lot so she's sad when her pop goes away .... Big grin
So started the 20 minute rule , which touch wood , seems to be working a treat .

Anyone else use Orijen .... she really likes it .... Smile

They had an orijon stall at the ultimat pet show - rocco loved their food, but it's so expensive and they are both doing well on arden grange i didn't personally see the point in changing. It's a good food though.

We are using it. He seems to like it and his poo is hard and in limited quantities (so I assume he digests most of the food).

We bought some for Barney.....but he wouldn't touch it at all!! We put him on Royal canin and he wolfs that down, and his coat is lovely and shiny and he's doing really good on it!! We have been putting a little bit of the Orijen that we had left over in with his RC and he's been eating it. I'd like him to eat Orijen all the time cuz it's good stuff, but aint too fussed that he doesn't....he's doing great on RC. clown

I have had Ruby on Orijen and she blossomed on it. Although we have her on Nutro Puppy at the moment (introduced gradually of course) and she seems to like this I still like Orijen better. I know it's fairly expensive but cost doesn't matter to me, it's her glossy coat and growing well that matters. I will be ordering some more Orijen now that I have my new bank card. (I cut up the wrong one when I got a new one through the post but that's a different story!)

If I just had the one staff I would poss feed it but feeding two would be too expensive as I only pay £30 for my arden grange.

We had Sadie on it and her poops were really firm. She was super gassy on it though so we had to switch to a lower protein food.

I am trying a sack of Orijen for Fen when her Arden Grange gets low. I've done a lot of reading about it, and it sounds excellent!

Those of you who say your dogs are gassy on it, I read that they can be gassy on it to start with because it's such a good high quality food, and the gas is a result of the dog's body detoxifying any nasties it may have! I read you should carry on feeding for a couple of months, then the gassiness should settle down!

She really does look in wonderful condition MONTY! I can't wait to get some Orijen for Fen! I got a trial bag, and she loved it! The only thing I noticed was that it only had a few weeks 'til it went out of date. I'm hoping this is just because it was a trial bag. Could someone else look on their sack of Orijen and check the use by date, and let me know? I'm sure it's fine, I just worry about these things! Thanks!

Okay now I'm confused. On the Orijen site they make a big song and dance about the fact that there's no grain in it at all. I just switched to James Wellbeloved because I was told it was good for puppies but it has got rice and oats in it.

What's the deal?

Rice and oats isn't as bad as maize and wheat, which can cause nasty side effects in some dogs. I don't know of a dog food other than Orijen that has 0% grain in.
