You will get the odd dog that is aggressive but this is usually due to a medical problem, ie, brain tumour but most are turned that way by the way they are treated.

When I first got Joe, JRT/Whippet nearly every time you touched him he would bite, his previous owners had trained him by beating him and their 3 year old daughter had used him as a doll. Joe had learnt that he had to bite because nobody took any notice of his warnings. It also took me 4 years to find the key to his recall and I hope I never see the terror in a dog like that again.

Joe also has brain damage thanks to that family but he never bites now but will growl, I always listen, and his recall is extremely good.

i think all dogs have it in them..... some dogs can turn nasty for one resson or aotheir....
most will be fine all their days.....

but the ones that are made to be nasty, just do wot thay have to do to survive whethr fighting,or not....

human aggressive staffies were culled in the ''olden days''. the standard wouldn't tolerate it.

the standard calls for them to be bold, fearless, totally reliable....that's a staffy....a real one.

that is why the well bred, pure bred staffy is the most people friendly dog on the planet.

when a ''staffy'' is named as the dog involved in an incident involving a human it is invaribly a case of misidentification....usually to hide the i.d of the real breed involved.

staffies have a weight to carry & that's a fact.

we shall overcome.

Kano is fine normally, but a bit mouthy with me. Although i do everything for him, walk, feed, water etc. my misses gives him a treat now and again and is seen as the boss. What the **** !

He's still a bit boistous with visistors, but i crate him when he goes to far. He's much better with other dogs, never barks at them, even when they bark and growl at him !
No ifs...No buts...

That depends, I live in West Yorkshire and youths having an aggressive Staffy gives them street cred. These idiots deliberately turn these dogs aggressive to show just how macho they are. They turn them aggressive by beating them daily from when they get them at 6 weeks old.

99% owner to blame, the other 1% could be through irresonsible breeding ie over breeding/brother sister ect ect

Mattie i'm sorry to hear of Joe's cruelty, but i think this proves that it is the up-bringing of the dog that churns out what these evil owners create. I for one don't believe that any dog(or human) is born bad. They are created by an evil few.Thier behaviour is learnt behaviour, not of the norm. And they can as in Joes case revert their behaviour almost 360 degrees. Which proves he was'nt bad to begin with. Good on you joe and you Mattie for your patience and understanding Love

I agree hardtrakz i think it's the owner too. No amount of in-breeding is to blame. a lot of well known show dogs are from in-breeding and they become Ch's and are not dangerous dogs just because they are in-bred.Only nasty people breed nasty dogs. angry
