What's the strangest thing your dog has eaten

Post by Marian on Wed 24 Sep 2008, 17:45

First topic message reminder :

Every year when the walnuts are ready to be eaten I have a lot of work cleaning our backyard. Shoei and birds (especially the crows) don't like each other. Shoei always barks when they are sitting on our roof and tries to scare them devil . The last few days the crows on the other hand are sitting on our roof and are "throwing" walnuts towards Shoei laughing. Sometimes the walnuts hit him feeling beat up , but Shoei doesn't mind it at all. He just shakes his head, takes the walnut, cracks it and eats it drooling. So I was wondering if your staffy also eats strange things.

Mine LOVE walnuts! My cousins GSD also loved Hazelnuts in the shell. He'd crack them open, spit out the shells & munch away on the nuts.

The grossest thing was a dead turtle in the middle of the road... shell and all (extra calcium?) crunch.. crunch..

The strangest thing was a partially eaten powdered, jelly doughnut, tossed into the tall grass on the side of the road... I might not have realized (since it went down in one gulp) but for the powdered sugar that remained on his nose. I didn't realize he liked jams and jellies! laughing

A used condom that was on the middle of the path. A mouse head left by my cat. Luckily he didn't literally eat them but took them in his mouth.

Ruby used to eat her own poo, in fact she ate some this morning whilst my back was turned and her speciality used to be snails! They are especially tasting from our front garden!

I'm gonna go ahead and say 'uncle' and bow out gracefully!
My dead turtle and jelly doughnut are looking rather trifle now!
Infact, I might just encourage him to eat turtles just to keep him away from worse stuff.

If she still eats snails make sure her worming is up to date see post below

We spent £80.00 in April this year because our Vets thought she had caught lung worm from eating grass where snails had been and even mouthing a snail itself. Two lots of antibiotics later the snotty nose cleared up. I'm very vigilant nowadays and stop her from going anywhere near them. However it turned out not to be Lung Worm but a blade of grass that had got caught somewhere at the back of her throat and got infected. Any snails in our front garden now get chucked over the wall.

Mine eat mouldy, brown apples from the trees in the garden, I think they get them tipsy as they always do it even when it has a nasty effect on their stomachs!

Sami did it again

Post by Jassu on Wed 16 Sep 2009, 14:04

Today I got a new sofa. While it was carried in I locked Sami into bathroom that he wouldn't be on the guys' way who brought the sofa. When I opened the door to let him out he was happily chewing - a toilet brush...

Well it's neve just one of them. usually the cat steals it and then the dogs think it's fair game. Nick's toothbrush was the latest casualty! Hemi used to try and eat rocks when he was a puppy. I still think the worst was my couch though.
