What do most people do?

Post by staffylover4eva on Fri 03 Jul 2009, 16:51

I have been to see a friend today who's little jack Russel passed away last weekend. My friend is getting him cremated. What do most people do bury or cremate their dogs when they've passed away?

i have buried all my hamsters , rabbits , guinea pigs in my small garden but i dont fancy digging a hole for a dog so i would have him cremated...i suppose it comes down to how the person feels at the time and if it is prsctical for your garden ...and i think pet cemetaries are very expensive ,there is one in godstone which is huge

My smaller animals have been buried in the garden, poppy was cremated. A friend of mine dug a huge hole and buried her old lad in it when he went, they put a few paving slabs on top to prevent the other dog from digging and planted a tree behind it and put a bench there so that he can still be part of the family.

Sylar is not going to die, ever! I'm going to forbid it. If he does die I'll lock him in the kitchen until he behaves himself.

... now I just need to believe this crying

Thats the hardest part of owning a dog, the near certainty that you will be here longer than them. I loved that quote about how they love so much more and so much better than us that they can't be here as long.

Cremated our first one but the vet we had did something really nice for us, before he cremated her he gave us a little plaster cast of her paw print in the shape of a heart that we keep on display.

Always had mine cremated as they were too big to bury. I'd also be worried about other animals trying to dig them up if they could smell them.
