if they ban a breed they dont take your dog away anyway, your allowed to keep it aslong as its muzzled and stays on lead etc. It just means you cant go out and get another 1. I think they would have too many problems trying to ban staffies anyway, they are the 4th most popular dog in the country now and over 12,000 staffies are registered with the kennel club every year, then add all the unpapered staffies and staffie crosses... it would be almost impossible. But if they did ban them i would probably make my next dog either an EBT or a dogue de bordeaux

Jay is right where i live Ontario pit bull type breeds are banned thats includes Staffordshires, you cant a new dog but can keep the one you have. In Ontario, has to be neutred adn muzzled in public. You cant import pit bull types either or u get a big fine

My "girls" are my girls, if you know what I mean. As a family they are the only breed we have had. My son used to be scared of dogs when he was a little boy, now he loves our girls to bits!! I would go to a great breeder, and continue to have them anyway. I have had "little yappers" and German Shepherds when I was growing up, but the SBT is the BEST!!

sorry, but you are wrong, if a breed is banned, in the UK, they can seize them. you can either sign your dog over (to be destroyed) or you can go to court to get your dog on the exempt list, while this is happenening you dog would be in kennels for up to 9 months. if you win the case then the dog has to muzzled while in public.
staffys have already been banned from council properties in dublin. the majority of staffy crosses are classed as pit type and CAN and HAVE been seized.
they'd have to bring in the army to get mine.

Re: if ever staffordshire bull terrier were banned!
i dont think staffordshire bull terrier will be banned in our life time, there's more chance of me winning the lottory than staffordshire bull terrier getting banned, it cost millions of pound to ban pitbulls back in the 90s and it was a big failure there's more pitbulls today then there ever has been.
you only need to read or watch what happenned in liverpool the 30 dogs that were seized and the courts gave them back to their owners, the public was going mad about wasting tax payers money i think it cost around a million pound for 30 dogs( kennel fees, lawyer fees and court fees) so really we're looking at millions banning another breed.
I would guess there are 10.000 pitbull terrier type dogs in this country possibly more so banning pitbulls was a big failure. why would goverment who is in control waste any more tax payer money when they have got more imported thing to worried about like gang crime, terrorism, anti-social behaviour the list goes on,
they always listen to the kennel club anyway.

I think thats so sad
Its the majority of good owners that suffer when they lose their beloved pets, the minority of bad owners will just replace theirs with another one and so it goes on.
I cant see the Stafford getting banned i think theyd have a riot on their hands.
But just as with the pits we'd still have them ban or not

Re: if ever staffordshire bull terrier were banned!
their 10,000s of pitbull type in the uk (and i hate the word type)
wonder how many staffordshire bull terrier they are in the uk regsitered and unregsiter dogs, 2 or 4 times more i would think
it will cost billions which the goverment haven't got. i think the goverment as better things to sort out like schools, HNS, police force and the list goes on.
plus if my dog was seized i would fight all the way to get them back and i will win (i know my dogs are not dangerous to anybody), then i would send a letter to the newpaper about them wasteing taxpayer money.

i would never give up my dogs because of what the law says you should keep. i hate the fact good owners with good dogs are always going to be the ones to suffer.

The only dogs being seized around here are from the idiots dealers and other scumbags, and thats when reports of the dogs being set onto people, i still go to see some of my freinds in Croxteth and Notrris green, 2 of the worste places in liverpool and i still see scores of people walking their pitbulls and i dont mean type i mean proper pits without so much as the police stopping and asking what kind of dogs they are.
I would say Staffies are higher than 4th if you cound all the unregistered dogs aswell.
