TJ ....Would drag an oil tanker on the way to the fields...
But after a good run we need a tug boat to get him back home...
Bruce was brilliant...We never had to put a lead on him...

toby pulls on the lead but not on his harness and millie only pulls sometimes.
toby also makes a grunting sound when on his collar and it makes people cross the road, the fools must think he is going to bite them

Re: Does your dog pull on the lead
Ellie is just terrible, tried everything to get her out of it,but when she walks she walks one way only straight forward,no stopping fast,Harley is really good,he walks by my side,Misty aint too bad, pulls at first then stops after abit,Stella is miss happy larry pulls but no problem she is only tiny, she will stop if told.
Rambo is great he just walks by my side never leaves it,always checking to see if im there,if i have another person with me when walking him,he has to walk in the middle of us to make sure he has both of us,he hates it if the other person walks off & will wait untill she/he is back.
Cleo doesnt go for much walks,as she starts to limp.dont know why as she runs around the garden & doesnt limp after that.

Re: Does your dog pull on the lead
Freya pulls a little when we first leave the house but calms down after a bit. She won't walk to heel, always to busy rushing on the next smell. We used to walk Diesel on a harness but he was just way out front. I decided i wanted him to walk with me rather than in front so we are now doing collar and short lead work. Boy it's hard, he is such a man!!
Been doing it for about 6 weeks now and i think he may have remembered what i'm after now. Still air bites traffic and wants to kill other dogs tho... can't have it all (not yet anyway, one thing at a time).

try the long lead, when the dog pulls you quickly turn & walk the other way,it is used by mick martin on dog borstal, mine do walk better on long leads than short, but it doesnt help with every dog (Ellie) but its worth a try
have you ever watched Ceaser Millan he is great

Re: Does your dog pull on the lead
I use a 6ft lead to teach my dog to walk on a loose lead. I have my dog on my left, the handle of the lead in my right hand and hold the lead in the middle with my left hand.
As soon as my dog goes in front of my hip, I drop the lead in my left and and turn, walking quickly the other way. My dog then has to play catch up. Again, as soon as his head gets in front of my hip, I drop the lead, turn and walk.
It doesn't take long before your dog is watching you and is walking next to you on a loose lead. I usually do this for 5 to 10 minutes every day and it doesn't take long before my dog is walking like this all the time.
Don't wait until your dog is pulling, to pull he has to be well in front, the best position is next to you, you have more control then and your dog will follow you whichever way you go. If your dog is in front, it is more difficult to turn.

Re: Does your dog pull on the lead
Chelsea pulls on lead and at times its not enjoyable to walk her, however when we let her off the lead she has a quick run-a-round and stays by our side and does not leave us. I couldnt believe or understand it. When she has finished her run and her play time she actually stands by our side and pulls at her lead thats in our pocket or hand, its as she asks to go on it lol.

Re: Does your dog pull on the lead
Perrin can pull on lead sometimes, but only if the distraction is to big, like going towards a dog friend, or a cat running across the road, but otherwise no.
He always walks in front of me, in the end of his lead, which is were he walks best on the lead. No pulling at all. And he is more observant when he is a bit in front of me because he have to listen to my turning cues and stay commands, etc.

Enzo will pull everytime he goes out but will start to calm down after a while so i guess its just excitement, but carley only pulls sometimes, a gentle tug on her lead and she will stop.

yes she does, she pulls me to the car, she is a lazy spoilt brat, and she likes to go in the car to the park, once shes knows its a road walk she gets over it but she tries her luck with my car and a couple of other cars aswell!
