Shoei loves swimming. When he sees water he goes crazy and jumps in it. Doesn't matter if it's full with mud

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
We had lots of rain last summer and he hates getting wet in the rain, We took him to our local park with a large pool, it was full to the brim, water was level with the pathway, he saw some ducks on the water near the bank, ran straight forward thinking it was level ground.....and went straight under LOl, shocked him it must have been cold! now he even avoids puddles

Tyson loves swimming. When the weather was good here and we used to take him to the beach alot...he'd run straight into the water and just swim laps...he didnt even care that there were other dogs at the beach that he could play with, all he wanted to do was swim

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
sonny used to love swimming, until he drown in a cannal, now none of my dogs are allowed anywhere near water wether they like it or not

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
Millie hates the water! Where we go for walks, there's lots of nice streams etc and she won't go near them, whereas my friends dog just jumps straight in and refuses to get out again lol. I've tried enticing her in for a paddle but she won't have any of it!

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
yup i can't keep my two out the water. but it has its down sides
I did have a scare the other week as Indi was running through long grass and managed to miss judge the edge of the river, he fell down a sheer 3 foot drop into a strong flowing river. I had to jump in and try and grab him and then push him up the bank. it has to be one of the scariests momenst of my life and it wasn't until i got out the water with him safe and sound that i realised how much danger we were both in.
I do have little life jackets for them as a friend of mine owns a hydro therapy pool and she said that staffs get tired very quickly and they tend to get pulled under due to the weight of them so she insisted i get teh life jackets if i plan on taking them swimming.

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
I used to have Springer Spaniel called Toby that loved to swim he was like a fish, the only thing was when he got tired and wanted to get out of the water he used to swim to the side then just stop dead.It was a bit difficult to haul him out but he loved the water so much i'd have never stopped him from having a dip.

Re: Does your dog like to swim?
Red Letter Day for Millie on Sunday

Took her for a walk in Donadea forest which has lots of nice shallow streams running through it. Just before she came to one she decided to roll in something absolutely foul smelling (no idea what it was) but I think it must have even been making her sick because when we came to the stream she went in up to her neck with only a little gentle persuasion which I couldn't believe. And not only that, she went in a second time!!!!
