Do you leave your dogs unattended together?

Do you leave your dogs alone unattended?
Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
The honest truth - do you ever leave your dogs alone together unattended?
If you do, did you raise them together as pups? or?

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I do, & always have. (cept when he was tiny & it was too cold outside for him.) Jess is the top dog to Tyson & after pushing his puppy luck a few times when he was little, he knows his place in this house. 1 word from Jess & he's mush. He wouldnt be brave enough to stand up to Jess when she says "NO" & means it.
But i do monitor their interactions to ea other on a daily basis, check ea for marks & nicks as they do rough play & if i ever have any doubt. . . sep areas would be arranged the next day.

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
Yes I do.
BUT!!!!!
I have put a lot of effort into training them to respect each others boundaries and I've never allowed any aggression from any of my dogs. It is a serious offence and they know it. Also my dogs personalities mesh nicely and I'm very very lucky there. They've also been socialised to boredom.
All that said if I ever got home and they had torn into each other I would accept full responsibility. They would not have acted out of their nature.

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I put rarely, because I will leave them whilst I go to the loo, or go and get dressed something that takes a few seconds. If I go out or go to bed, then they get caged, in 4 seperate cages with the doors shut.
It takes one small stupid thing for them to kick off and lose one of my dogs forever - no thanks they can be caged.

We seperate ours when we go out and Reuben still sleeps in his cage in the kitchen purely for the reason that he will not stay in his own bed in the bedroom

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I have three as everyone knows.
Dylan is left on his own and Charlie and Indi are together. All my dogs are un caged.
Leaving Indi with charlie is never an issue for me as Indi is super submissive and Charlie so chilled that when i am out she will sleep.
I have had all my dogs since they were pups so can read them all like books. I know what winds them up and how to diffuse them.
When at shows i will leave two in the cage at once and sometimes all three. Not great i know BUT again i know my dogs.
I will say that none of my dogs display the hyper activity i see in may Staffords. They are all very laid back and chilled regardless of the situation. My dogs prefer to sleep and chill out when not exercising. I am very lucky with my 3 but never ever do i take it for granted.

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I don't leave mine alone together unless it's to go to loo. I did leave them when i dropped my son at the childminders last week (5 mins and i don't get out of car) but after reading the "Devastated" post today i will never do this again - it's just not worth the heartbreak.
Gizmo is crated at night with Vins in same room. In the day, Gizmo has kitchen with stairgate between kitchen and dining room. Vinnie has dining room and conservatory so they can see each other if they choose but they can also get away from each other.

I don't unless I'm just going to the loo, Tara gets to roam the downstairs of our house when we're out but Jake goes into his cage, Jake is only 4 months old but we'll still stick to this routine when he's an adult.

I agree completey - mine are also only left for rediculously short periods of time too!
Don't get me wrong, we've never had a problem with them together but I'd prefer never to take the risk, the price to pay would be too high. Any way - I think they quite like their personal space!

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I have only ever had one Staffy, Dollar. My MIL feel in love with her, and when her two dogs were PTS, a Dobermann, and a Rottie X.
My husband and I bought her 2 Staffy girls, sisters. Not knowing that you should not have two together, and any decent breeder would not have sold them to us.
They have just turned 10 years old now, and get on great. They sleep together, eat side by side, play together, etc... And they are left on there own together if MIL or her son go out. Never been seperated.
They are lovely happy, friendly, hyper girls.

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
If going to the loo then they are left as it's only a few seconds etc. If I take the rubbish out, Rocco comes with me and we have a quick game of ball out of the back (I can't take Dixie as she doesn't like the dog upstairs!)
If we go out, or someone isn't around to supervise then they are seperaed everytime! Dixie goes in the bedroom, with a stairgte across the door and Rocco has the run of the flat.
They get on so well and really do adore each other, but as Dixie is DA, my worry is that play could get out of hand if someone isn't there to supervise - Rocco could push her over the edge and she could flip. They have never ever even had a spat or even growled at each other in a nasty way - but for my own peace of mind I prefer to seperate them.
I couldn't bear it if I came home one day and found one/both of them hurt or worse!
I think we all know our dogs and what works best...

Re: Do you leave your dogs unattended together?
I do, but only because I have asessed the way they interact with one another and I know how they problem solve between them. I wouldnt have a month ago as they weren't balanced enough and an arguement could have broken out when I was away. I think you need to be sure the dogs get on, there can not have been any aggression issues in the past.

I agree - thats what I've also worked towards. BUT as I said if something happens you have only yourself to blame.

I leave mine together all the time. It has worked fine so far but I guess its always fine until its not.
I will sepearte them in the future if it seems needed, but we are talking about the unpredictability factor & no amout of good past behavior or training can mitigate that.
I hope they continue to be fine (they have the run of the house except the bedrooms)
