All 6 of ours have their teeth brushed twice a week. We start from them being young pups using a finger toothbrush and chicken flavoured toothpaste, then progress onto normal sized brushes. They line up and jostle with each other as to who goes first!!!

How would you clean them if Denitastix or such like didn't work? By far better to brush them than have a build up of plaque and tartar which results in bad teeth and gum infections.

Re: Do you brush your dog's teeth?
We start as soon as possible. If we have kept a pup we bred, as soon as they are eating solid food, we add an extra 5 minutes to their personal and grooming time with us without any of the other dogs about. Gently put your finger in their mouth and move it around their teeth and gums. You can get little nips from them at this stage. Then we progress to using a finger toothbrush, but again take it slowly and always be very gentle with them. As soon as they are used to you going into their mouth, we then add a tiny bit of canine toothpaste, chicken flavour, and gently brush the teeth. When they are about 4 months old, we then buy a toothbrush which is suitable for a young child and has soft bristles, and begin to use this, gradually moving up to an adult toothbrush.
There are numerous types of canine toothbrushes available on the market now, so shop around and find the one that you and your dog are most comfortable with. All 6 of ours have their own individual toothbrush, each with a different colour so we know which is which. This prevents the spread of any gum disease etc. Bibi our youngest at 10 months old is just moving up to an adult size now.
Hope this helps
