Did anyone catch the virgin 1 programme tonight at nine ' death row dogs'? I'm absolutely angry that these 'pitbull type'( most stafford crosses IMO) dogs are being confiscated and put to sleep. One tearful elderly irish lady had hers taken away Roxy and Hooch, even though they have never attacked anyone. Because a so called 'expert' came to see them and said they were pitbulls. They have been in kennels for 9mths (somewhere) and she is gutted as they are her babies. They have become agressive in kennels in the meantime she has heard. She even had a dog expert from England (seen him on tv)come to give evidence in court for her. One boxer went vicious after being in kennels for several years, it must have drove him mad. What justice is that?Even the dog expert said 'call us a nation of dog lovers it's a joke!' Luckily Roxy and Hooch have been taken off death row, it did'nt say if they'd been given back. Another from liverpool was'nt so lucky as with many others. But the police released 2 standard poodles who had escaped over night and had supposedly killed sheep. Why oh why they don't change the law and do the owners instead of the dogs,with stiffer sentences i don't know. It's gutting.

yea i just watched that, the dog from liverpool didnt look nothing like a pitbull yet it still got put down just seems like they think any dog with muscle and a big head is a pitbull and just put them down

that 1 dog it said was in there for 14 years and died in there... just a sad excuse of a country really.

yehh, pit bull type is a real cop out, it either is or its not, its like well we dont know, but what the hell, lets put it down anyway, sad, very sad, i blame the stupid public and the media, they have a lot to answer too !!

I totally agree Steve, it's like saying 'collie type' and there would be millions out there. The 'experts believe anything resembling a pitbull should be put to sleep.Thats insane! Pit bulls are just another bull breed and should'nt be wiped out because of a minority of irresponsible owners.

i dont think any dog should be ban really it's the owner and the government know it they even said it on tv, but there so many crazy people in this county who belive in the the news they get brain washed and they think pitbull are born nasty. because of the fighting background what they have, but they haven't seen what labs and other breeds can do to people if the bite.

yehh i was quite suprised to discover how bad labs can be,

the irish lady, irene did have her dogs returned to her, but sadly when they got home it was apparent that roxy (the youngest) had suffered a lot of stress and was put to sleep

hendrick who belongs to the couple in liverpool is still alive. his owners won an appeal, his case will be heard the end of april.

i was fuming after watching it, although i did think it was quite fair in showing that B.S.L is pathetic

the laws here in the UK are a joke, these dogs get put down because they look a certain way...a man stabbed his pup to death and only got a 5year ban on keeping dogs. pathetic

No dogs should be banned but many humans should be banned from owning dogs

yey, i agree, but i dont think anyone should be able to own certain dogs with special requierments, its like giving a kid a gun sometimes, and not just people who abuse dogs, idiots who have no idea about dogs and treat them like children i think that is very dangerouse,
