i had my female done because i had 1 of her son worried i dint want any inbreeding happening.

People say if they've never tried it they won't miss it, but i like to let my bithes have one litter but i always make sure i have homes for all the pups before they are born

I mainly had Duke and Dhaysi done for health reasons although I never ever intended using them for breeding anyway.

I personnally couldnt live with myself if I could have done something to prevent the likes of prostate cancer or testicular cancer and they contracted these as with Dhaysi I couldnt bear it if she contracted pyometra, ovarian cysts etc

I realise that everyone has varied opinions on castration and neutering and respect them fully.

Have a look at this http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongTermHealthEffectsOfSpayNeuterInDogs.pdf

The chances of prostate cancer is the same whether they are neutered or not, obviously they can't get testicular cancer if they are neutered.

I would never get a dog neutered under about 14 months old, I like them to mature properly first and hopefully they will be cocking their leg.

If you get a dog neutered during one of the fear periods, it makes them nervous which is another reason not to get them neutered before 14 months old.

I would always get a bitch spayed, apart from the moods, the risks to her health is much higher than it is for a dog.

in Ontario all pit bull type breeds have to be neutered.
