Hi shoei, when my old boy had a vac for kennel cough he was given drops in the nose, that was back in the 90's are they giving injections for it now, as our boosters dont contain kennel cough, do they in your country? Am curious. Its the same here with regards to kenneling must have a kennel cough certificate.

Hi Staffsrock, no kennel cough is not in the booster, it's a separate injection. I do know about the nose drops, but are they also for "one year" protection? As my husband trains policedogs and we regularly have several dogs in the kennel (and they all meet at the club) and although I know that giving the kennel cough injection will not definitely prevent him from getting it, we choose to give the injection yearly. winking

Hi shoei was asking cause i didnt know about injection for it. My old boy only had it once(nasally) and kept getting nose bleeds and developed a tumour in his nose a few years after he had his, dont know if it was connected but i have always felt guilty about it. So i was interested to hear of an injection instead. :-bd

I can understand that you don't have a good feeling about it. Don't know if there's a connection. But I do know that over here, if you want to bring your dog to the kennel (i.e. during holidays) you have to give the injection a certain period before you bring the dog in. With the nosespray/drops this period is shorter Smile.

cheers shoei, i was unaware of any injection, my vet didnt give me that option at the time even though i enquired about it months in advance so he could have had the injection then.

what I have read about yearly vaccinations is

a vaccine is made to simulate our bodies into becoming immune to something, whether its dog or man a vaccine works the same, its makes our bodies produce antibodies to fight these virus's
with yearly boosters the body already had the antibodies so the vaccine is either pointless & worse building up in the body causing harm that may only become obvious years down the line when its too late.
when deci had her puppy jabs the vet didnt say anything whatsoever about boosters & I too want to find out more,as the stuff I have read concerns the usa & I wonder is it still relevent for the uk.

I just feel its probably only 1 or 2 things that they need yearly boosters on,but are there single vaccines?
when Deci had her puppy jabs it was one injection to vaccinate against everything.

roxy no I would still worm & flea treat her even if I found out that not all boosters are needed.
