little tip
little tip
my dogs are very fusy wen it comes to eatin.. they would eat anytin (dog food) but they would just pick at it.. tonight i gave them there food they had a couple of bits and then walked away from it.. so i got grated cheese and mixed a small bit in there food. i never saw them eat food as quick as that. they licked the bowls to death.. it was gone in 5mins. i feed them dry so it just added a bit of flavour for them.

Quite alot of dogs are lactose intolerant. So be careful when you give milk products for the first time.

I feed dry food but always add water to it, I also add veg and a teaspoon of tinned dog meat. Sometimes I will add tuna, sardines, mackeral etc. It does help make the food more apitising for my dogs.

Welcome to the site first, best thing to do is basicly stop feeding him the chicken and get him on dog food, try putting the bowl down and if he turns his nose up at it lift it up and put it away for about 15 minutes and then put it back down, sooner or later he's goin to realise that this is all he's getting and he'l start to nibble on it

I agree with Deco. When we have a problem with eating we do the same. And up till now it always worked. Luckily Shoei eats everything. I guess he thinks if you eat it I can eat it....
Of course he only gets food what's good for him and nothing else

I think you should put him on a regular dog feed, unless you want to learn how to feed him raw food, and that takes some time... They need a lot of vitamins and minerals, and nutrients, which chicken lack.
All the dogs in my family (7 in total) is fed dog food, only (Hill's, expensive but good food). And all of them eat, if someone doesn't want to eat the minute the food is presented, we take it away, and they'll have to wait for the next feeding time. May sound harsh, but it works, all of our dogs eat good, and are healthy and energetic, with nice and shiny coats. We never put anything extra in the food, if you start doing that you'll end up in a bad circle, in which the dog will demand more and tastier food every time you feed it, otherwise he wont eat.
You can make feeding your dog a tricky business, or you can chose the easy path, its a decision all dog owners will have to face sooner or later.

Just like children, dogs will be overenergetic and unable to concentrate if they are fed junk. Indeed, before you even try to train your dog or improve his behaviour, you need to be sure you are feeding good quality food. If he is barking, nervous or pulling on the lead, his food could be the cause. Your dog will simply not be able to concentrate on learning something new while he has toxic chemicals whizzing through his brain
. . The worst thing you can do is to keep changing his diet, as he will constantly change his mind as to which food he fancies today, and you may have created a fussy eater for life. Never make an issue out of his meal times, put his food down for him and pretend to occupy yourself with something else in the vicinity. If he has not eaten in your allotted time frame, then take up the dish and let him see that you are throwing it away and are not disturbed by what has happened . Always put fresh food down for him at his next mealtime.
Sometimes dogs will be seeking attention by not eating, but do make sure that there is no underlying health reason for his depleted appetite. Puppies often have reduced appetites during the teething process, which usually occurs between
4.5 - 6 months, as they can have swollen gums and sore mouths. Adult males can refuse food if there is a female 'on heat' in their vicinity. A sudden loss of appetite should be reported to your vet if there is no obvious cause, since it may be indicative of a medical condition
