Home-made Doggie Treats
Home-made Doggie Treats
For training these treats are brilliant and really easy to make and you know what is going in them tooo
They last for ages I bag them and freeze them and take a bag out the night before I need them
Liver Cake
220 grams raw liver
220 grams plain wholemeal flour
2 eggs
1 tablespoon garlic powder or 2 cloves of fresh garlic
1 teaspoon of oil (doesn't matter what type)
Liquidise all ingredients and add to the flour. Mix to form a paste then spread evenly in a plastic microwave proof dish.
Cook on high power for 7 minutes.
Slice while warm and store in the freezer until required.
Ginger & Honey Biscuits
3 tablespoons of runny honey
2-3 teaspoons of ground ginger
1 tespoon of ground cinnamon
3 oz soya milk
8 oz wholemeal flour
Bicarb
Heat the honey, ginger and cinnamon along with a tablespoon or so of water, untill on the verge of boiling, add a *tiny* pinch of bicarb and stir in, the first time I added to much bicarb and they went very wrong!
Then add in the flour, once all the flour is added, pour in the milk, slowly as you may not need it all. once you have a mixture you can work with your hands, knead it on a floured board and roll it very thin, the bicarb makes it rise, so no more than 5mm thick.
Cut into shapes, put in pre heated oven at about 180 degress for 10 minutes or so. They may still feel soft but they harden as they cool.
Banana Pupcakes
2 cups water
2 bananas
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1 egg
2 tablespoons honey
Preheat oven to 350. In a bowl combine water, mashed bananas, vanilla, egg and honey. Add flour and baking powder. Mix well. Pour into cupcake pans. Bake 20 min or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Optional Frosting - In a mixer combine 12 oz nonfat cream cheese, 1 teasp. vanilla, 1 teasp. honey. Add 3 teasp cinnamon or carob powder, if desired.

Re: Home-made Doggie Treats
My wifes a vegatarian and has a great de hydrator , she has lots of grain mills and extrudors and has been making dried chicken (pet grade) treats with some healthy flavors , we have tried them on all sorts of dogs and they all will do tricks for them , even my father in laws curly hair retriver whos a fussy sod and wont eat much of anything. they are a huge sucess and many have said we sould market them to other pet owners , we see lots of crap in the shops here and its all way over priced for what it is .
hey its an idea maybe but for now we supply close friends with a bag of them from time to time and our lille fellow loves them and they are a great training aid
