Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
My Friend has just got a 5 week old puppy who is good with people but with oreo he is uber aggressive. He tries to dominate Oreo but if oreo tries to stop it or dominate him he growls loudly and goes for oreo jumping up at him and attacking him- he is too small (Less than a Kilo) to do damage but There is no doubt that this is aggression - He IS NOT Playing Because he makes oreo Jump and bark even his owner came out of his room and thought it was Oreo and was shocked that it was little bailey ! Puppies Can be aggressive If I Can Ill get a pic of him and a video of him being Noisey!

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
5 weeks is far too young for him to be away from Mum. This is the time when she would be teaching him his manners, and he would be playing with his littermates (which can sound very noisy)
I would be interested to see the video as I can not imagine that he would be aggressive at such a young age

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
He's not aggressive, its like taking a 5 year old kid away and making them live alone on the streets - no one has ever taught them how to behave so they will become feral and have no manners and do whatever they want becaise no one ever told them its not the right thing to do.
If he behaved like this in his litter with his mum and siblings they would have put him straight and he would have come out with dog etiquette!

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
5 weeks old? The pup should be with his mum and litter mates for another 3 weeks yet! 3 very important weeks were they learn doggy social boundaries, how to behave etc. If pup was doing this to mum, mum would put him in his place.
5 weeks old, is far to young to comprehend aggression - this pup just has no social skills, which if he was still with mum, would be learning now.

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
I got Charlie at 5 weeks old (i didn't know until i got her papers! she was small yes but she was out of a litter of 12). She was a little cow, pretty similar i'd say to the pup you have described.
You have to make the owners aware that they MUST stop this behaviour ASAP and not allow him to behave in such a way. It would help if they knew someone with a bitch and let him spend time with her supervised ofcourse. That way nature would correct the pup.
In my case Dylan corrected Charlie and showed her the boundaries.
I also a few years back fostered a pup who was the worst pup i have ever had in my home, he was 12 weeks old. When i collected him my hands were ripped to bits, he just bit everything. He was so bad i had to hold him at arms length to take him to my car and place him in the cage When he got in here Indi was scared stiff of him as he was so nasty! HOwever 5 mins with Charlie and he soon calmed down. He tried his bad maners with her and she in a motherly way put him right very fast and i can say within half an hour the pup knew his place. He too was taken from his mother very young, 4 weeks from memory.
Seriously your friends need to curnb this behaviour otherwise they could have problems in the future

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
I Agree He Is Too Young To Be away! They were told he was 6 weeks but when I saw the puppy I Said Are you SURE Because in 2 weeks time he will not be the size of an 8 week old puppy. They were like yes But he is just so small. The next day she calls and says you are right he is younger than 6 weeks he is only 5 weeks and turning 6 weeks next week. I'm Not sure if i could get the video up but i agree it is because he lacks social skills which his mother would teach him right now but it is aggression I know it may be because he lacks the correct skills and it is quite sad that he is so young and away from his mother because he spends time alone and everyone in the house is going back to school/work next week and he will be alone for only a few hours but i'd say he is just too young! I Dont see his future being too bright because although he is a family dog if the eldest of the two sons whom is 17 has anything to do with raising him he will turn him nasty and aggressive whereas the rest of the household want him as a family pet! So STUPID !

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
Puppies can show aggression as we see it but its not aggression to the pup. Think you will find it's prob alittle scared of the other dog. I think putting the pup with a bitch suggestion is brilliant & prob just what it needs. 5 wks is way too young to be away from his mum.
I got Tyson at 8wks & still to this day (he's 8mths now) Jess will let him know if he steps out of line without fail & it's by far the best doggie lessons he will ever get. She is firm get kind but will not put up with a naughty pup. I think the best teacher in the world for a pup is a mature bitch if she is of sound nature.

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
Cant Male Dogs Have The Same Effect? And I Would have thought he was scared however he seeks oreo out and then wants to rumble but doesnt want to play! Oreo is quite easygoing and allows it until he has had enough but when he has had enough he will snarl and growl at him!

Re: Who Says Pupps Cant Be Aggressive?
No I dont think a male has the same effect (they are much harsher in their correcting of a pup) thou I'm sure there are some exceptions. A female is far more tolerant to a pup IMO but will correct it's naughtyness so it steps back in line.
Pups do playhouse from an early age to work out their possy in the pack & learn by play fighting so maybe he is just bossing Oreo around because Oreo is letting him till he has really had enough.
