No its absolute rubbish. However too much excercise can cause problems with joints and ligaments in later life. The rule for pups is 5 minutes for every month of their lives so a 12 week old pup can go out for 3 x 5 mins = 15 mins. And so on every month, can I ask how your pup can be out at 10 weeks did he have his vaccinations early?

You won'ty stop her running about at home, the rule refers to on lead exercise outside. I would try and stop her running up and down stairs though as this can be really bad news.

Hi, I was wondering about this too, I know the rule about 5 minutes for every month, but can you take them out a couple of times a day for that time or should that be it for the whole day? eg if they are 3 months old would it be 15 minutes for the whole day or could you do it a few timesd?

I would avoid letting them go up and down stairs and jumping off of sofas ect as this can damge their growth plates.

I have read stories of young pups who have snapped their growth plates by running down stairs.

Stop the stairs stuff ASAP. Buy a baby gate and make sure you're supervising her when she's jumping about. Try and watch she doesn't jump off the sofa, stairs etc. I know it's hard though, I've gone through the same thing.

As for stunting her growth that's b**locks. It can cause artritis in later life though.

Good question... when Harley was 3 months I was taking him out twice @ 15 mins but once mostly on grass. I asked the vet and she said it was fine Smile
