Very sad story, was the dog to blame...?

Post by azzman on Wed 04 Mar 2009, 04:42

This happened about 3 years ago, my 5 yr old amstaff bitch Dre was with my then girlfriend who worked on a sheep farm, Dre was the most well adjusted, nothing bothers me sort of dog, anyway 1 of the farm owners young pig hunting dogs out of the blue started fighting with her, Dre ended up killing it, which was no mean feat considering the kill instinct in pig dogs. My gf managed to hide Dre away in fear of what the owner would do, but he managed to find her, put a bullet in her head and dump the body beside her car. This is a shocking story I know, but was it justified? I can see his point of view, they dont tolerate that sort of things from dogs. I still talk to my ex and she still has the odd nightmare.

So...RIP Dre, I still love you.

That story is shocking.
Never heard of a pig hunting dog.
In my humble opinion your dog was faultless and just stood its ground. I am so sorry to gear of your sad loss.
I know where I would like to put a bullet !
I hope your girlfriend and you get over this incident and wish you all the best !

Pig hunting dogs are used to locate and hold wild pigs until someone gets there with a gun and shoots the pig, they are normally x bully breeds, dogs you dont want to meet in a dark alley, trust me.

OMG that is terriable! I have never heard of someone doing that before, how could he!! No your dog wasnt at fault it was deffending itself.

I know of a few pig dogs that are harmless UNLESS they are out hunting.

Not you're girl was not at fault at all. The guy was wrong to shoot her. She was just defending herself. I'm often on a station here but none of the guys would shoot a dog under those circumstances. Def in the wrong & bring on kharma!
