R.I.P. Casey
We'd been looking for a second dog for a long time when we got a phone call from a dogs home that they had a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in their care. This is where we got Casey.
She was just days away from being put to sleep, so we had to go and see her. She'd been badly abused and left on the streets to fend for herself. Nobody wanted her because she was 8 years old...I guess she wasn't like the other younger dogs and puppies but I knew straight away that she was the one for us.
For some reason she took to me straight away and my wife called her 'Daddies little girl'. We couldn't of wished for a more loving dog that seemed to have so much temperament, it was like we'd had her from a puppy...all her past troubles seemed to of been completely forgotten and she was free to do all those things that eluded her before.
We didn't mind how old she was, we always said that as long as we could give her a couple of years TLC then we knew she'd ended her life happy. As it turned out she gave us 5 years of love and laughter.
In the end though nature took it's cause and she developed a tumour that the vets told us couldn't be operated on. We never saw this coming as it was so sudden that it totally destroyed me. We were told she'd have 6 months to live but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
She took a turn for the worse one weekend shortly after that we decided it was for the best to put her to sleep. I was with her when this happened and while they were injecting her she turned to me and moaned, as if to say thank you and good bye, turned her head back onto her paws and passed away...I'll never ever forget that moment.
Thank you my darling girl for all those happy memories you've given us. I'll carry them with me for the rest of my life. God Bless and sleep tight my little princess.
This is a poem I want you to remember...It's called
Never Forgotten
Look not where I was
For I am not there
My spirit is free
I am everywhere
In the air that you breathe
In the sounds that you hear
Don't cry for me
My spirit is near
I'll watch for you
From the other side
I'll be the one running
New friends by my side
Smile at my memory
Remember in your heart
This isn't the end
It's a brand new start

Re: R.I.P. Casey
I agree with Kimmy&Ginge; my face paint must now be reapplied. How sad, but wonderful that you gave her everything. And it sounds like she gave her all in return. Beautiful face. RIP Casey.
