Totlly Gutted :O(

After Harley's poorly leg and what the vet said to My Bully's Keeper i thought seeing as Charlie was experiencing similar issues i would take her to the vets tonight for a check up.

After explaining to the vet that for the past two weeks on and off after extreame exercise (mainly after a ball throwing session) Charlie would come home and sleep but when she got up she would be unable to walk on her back leg holding it up. The next day she would be pretty much normal. I have been monitoring the situation on and off.

Totally forgetting about her lamness i took the dogs out yesterday afternoon for a play in the park with their balls and yup she came home and was lame again. This time although better she is only slightly putting weight on her leg. When she walks she swings it under her so as to put little to no pressure on it. She has also stopped using it to go up and down stairs.

Anyway to cut a long story short the vet confirmed my worst nightmare tonight by saying that she was 80% sure Charlie has torn her cruciate ligament

. We have to go back on Wednesday (they are very busy tomorrow!) for x-rays to confirm the diagnosis. If confirmed then she will be refferred to the local Veterinary Hospital to under go an operation on her leg.

I am really angry at myself for not taking her sooner.

Awww dont beat yourself up over it mate, its not like a dog can speak and tell you what the score is!! you can only do what you think is right, good luck getting the leg sorted, hope it works out!

OMG, poor Charlie sad

And poor you too, I'm gutted for you and Charlie. This day just gets worse and worse sad

I hope the X Ray proves the Vet wrong I really do.

Oh hun - I am so sorry to hear about poor charlies leg!

If it hasn't ruptured fully they probably won't operate on a partial tare - they will wait till it blows completely - that's what my vet told me when we though Dixie had done hers.

Thanks guys. She goes in at 8.30am Wednesday (tomorrow) for x rays. Today she is on cage rest and not happy about it.

I'll keep you all posted on the results tomorrow when i get them

Tell me about it , i would have preffered to know ASAP rather than wait but they are a vet short and were fully booked up today

I hope she is taking it easy as i have left her in Indi's show crate. I have tried to make it as snugg as possible with two layers of thick vet bed and her sleeping bag to snuggle in to.

She is so going to hate me when i go home at lunch.... 45 mins and counting

best of luck for to-morrow. dont feel to bad our first vet missed dells ruptured cartalidge, which lead to his crucial ligament rupturing.
if vets dont know for sure ,with-out x-rays, how are we supposed to know.
we felt guilty but with hind-sight we couldnt do any-thing other than what we did.

Charlie got all your loving hugs and kisses this moring and is now in the sfae hands of the vets.

I should hear from them by two o'clock so as soon as i know anything i'll be sure to let you know

I appreciate your post. I insisted on the X rays as idid not want her going on drugs to prolong anything should it be what the vet was already sayingwhat they thought it was
