Re: *Nikki*
It is with great saddness that I have to write this - But I took her back to work this morning.
Last night she managed to break out of the crate and get hold of Rocco. Luckily no major damage was done to him and no injuries to her as Rocco didn't fight back. The whole thing only lasted a few seconds - but felt like a life time.
I have to put my dogs first, they are my priority. The didn't eat sat night, all day sunday and only ate at lunch time today once they realised she had gone and was not coming back.
I am truely gutted it didn't work out as I fell in love with her from day one. They were absolutley fine out on walks - not a hint of trouble, but when she was in the house, she was a different dog. Fine when on her own and they were locked away in another room.
The only good thing to come out of this is that I can add to her assessment they she MUST be an only dog in the home. She mixes fine when out on walks, lets you know when she needs to go out for the toilet, loves cuddles, kisses and belly rubs.
I cried my heart out last night as I felt like I had failed her - but I couldn't have my two stressed out any longer than that. I also didn't want to risk her attacking Rocco again or getting into a fight with Dixie and all my hard work with Dixie going out of the window. I have to admit though, Dixie was an absolute angel this weekend and even when Meg had hold of Rocco she stayed out of it and didn't get envolved.
I am going to make sure I find Meg the perfect home she deserves.

Don't beat yourself up over it.
You did great trying to give her a home, but it just wasn't to be.
Your 2 must come first. Good luck in finding her a new home.
Sounds like she will be a great pet given the chance as an only dog.

So sorry it didnt work out for you and meg, but you are right and you must put your two first, I also know how hard it can be to bring a rescue dog into your home and then have to either rehome it or return it to the centre, you did your best and you have helped her very much, as you said because you now know she must be homed as an only dog, big hugs to your
and wishing you all the best in finding meg a home as an only dog. xx

Re: *Nikki*
You know i am really sad to hear your news but you have to do what is right for both Rocco, Dixie and Meg which in my opinion you have.
Yuo did something not many people would do and brought home a dog in to your home from rescue, you gave her a chance and unfotunatly she didn't take you up on it. Its sad but like you say you have learned something very valuable about her and you are now able to find her the best home possible.
You may be sad now but some good has come out of all of this. Dixie has been fully transformed. I don't know many dogs who were once DA that would stand back and watch a rucas and not get involved especially when it was one of their own involved. She has shown you once again what a fantastic dog handler / trainer you are
My love to Rocco and Dixie

Gutted things didn't work out for you Nikki, like everyone has said though, you did what you had to do for the sake of all of you. You did something amazing for taking her in in the first place and as you say you now know more about her that will help you find the perfect home for her then you would have done any other time. Hope she finds somewhere soon.

Re: *Nikki*
Its a much better person who can admit that things are not going to work out, and rehome than not being able to admit it won't and one of them gets badly hurt.
I hope that Meg finds a new home soon, and that you stop feeling guilty, we have to remember we can't help them all sometimes.

Sorry to hear about Meg Nikki. You are right to put your two first.
I am sure you will find her a forever home soon , you do a fantastic job and like Jo says you cannot help them all.
By knowing that she should be an only dog will also help her in the long run.
Big hugs to you x

Sorry it didnt work out for Meg with Rocco and Dixie.
You tried which is alot more then most people would have done and as you say you have a better idea of the type of home Meg requires.
Must be upsetting to seeing Meg crying for you to go over to her in the compound but hopefully she finds her forever home soon and you can help to ensure its the right one for her.
