Fair weather puppy.

We have been having problems taking Sadie out in the rain will not move past the door if she can help it. She has only been going out on the harness for the last week and loves going out as long as its not raining. Any ideas how to encourage her to go out in the rain. ?

Mine are the same....just babies out in the rain.
A raincoat might help, plus, whenever it STARTS to rain, (if I am home) I take my lad out for a walk with his coat on.
Its a matter of desensitising them to the whole thing.
Be very matter of fact about it, its raining, you ARE going out in it and thats that.
Starting this when they are small pups is much easier than trying this with an adult.
A flash raincoat, moving quickly and using food as a reward makes it a positive experience.
Oddly, although he hates the rain, my old boy likes to throw himself in the fountain we have in the middle of our town......bizarrre.....

Tino is ten and still hates going out in the rain,and if it's windy aswell then there is no chance,he's going for a walk he just about manages to go in the garden for a pee.

Good luck! Diesel also dislikes the rain, high wind and now the dark!

I tried buying a raincoat for him which I thought was pretty cool, but he got to the front door and refused to go out in it. He just sat down and looked at me as if to say ' if you think I ma going out looking like this you are truly mistaken'.

He will go in bad weather but just ends up being a shorter walk as he wants to get home to his creature comforts. But dont we all????

Oh and he also hates getting his paws wet!

We have a mat outside the back door and he wont walk on it if its wet, he has to go round it! Fussy blighter!

Toby also hates the rain, he will go out for a wee now...but one of us usually has to stand out in the rain with him!

he flatly refuses to go 4 a walk in the rain....he also doesnt like getting his paws wet. what they like

Happy to see that my Joker isnt the only one..
tried to walk him in the rain the other day, he sat down and didnt move an inch when it started pouring.. and yes, I had to carry him all the way home... (he is 8kg btw)

But I guess, just dont give up.. try and try again

Maybe one of those umbrella hats they had back in the days?

I had this prob with Hoopy when he was a wee pup and i bought him a wee parka off ebay and that worked for me .... and still does ,,,, he has owned quite a few parkas

Markey, I dont think i have seen a staffy that has as many facial expressions as yr Bronx. That photo is first class. He truely looks devastated to be out in the rain. lol

lol bless! i usually go charging out the door in the hope he dont realise its raining till its to late! dont work and i end up dragging him once hes out hes fine

Barney is better than he used to be. But if we are out in the rain, no standing around or lolligagging. He wants to get his business done and get on back to the couch.

lol, poor dogs!!! my nancy loves the rain!! must be the difference between english and staffy! she also liked the fireworks! sat and watched them go up, mad! well she is that!

My pal's EBT was out in the communal garden when the fireworks were going off, I heard him barking, but he's scared of nothing lol.

Harley didn't mind either to be honest.

As for rain... I literally dragged Harley out in the rain when we first got him out and about now he's not bothered by it at all.

Gosh - wish I could give you an answer but SBT's seem to hate the rain sad

They only advice I could give is to out with the pup and encourage her to ' go pee'

Ours scream the garden down when they were young - even now if its raining they won't go out - but now they don't get a choice lol

Rocco quite enjoys going out in the rain now - Dixie on the otherhand will scream at me the whole entire walk.

My guys all hate the rain as well but i put raincoats on them and make them go out. Once they are out in it and after about 3 mins they give in and start to enjoy it.
