do your dogs like the bath

Post by kellies79 on Fri 03 Jul 2009, 22:01

I was wondering if anyones dogs actually like the bath
Archer has always hated the bath, you only have to say bath and he's cowering in his bed
cleo on the other hand seems to love it, tonight whilst i was in the bath my little shadow came to find me, she sat whining at the edge then promtly jumped in and started splashing, I was not amused !!!! I will have to lock the door in future lol x

no, Inca doesn't enjoy it, but she'll stand there and take it - she mostly hates the drying! I can't get near her with a towel, so I have to set up a towel pile directly in front of the heater so she will actually get dry and not dampen my whole house, or get the chills.

Mine have no choice they get a shower like it or not at least once a month minimum. Indi gets more if i am at a show with him.

When i want to wash them i just take them in the bathroom and say nothing. I don't make a big deal of the situation, i find the less fuss the better.

Cloe hates the bath and like others have said she hates being dried even more! I have a couple of towels that I use to dry her and they both have holes in them from her biting at them lol!

On the other hand she surprised me today when she jumped in the boating pond at Greenwich park. She normally just paddles in water but it was hot out and at first it looked liked she was going over for a drink and just plonked in! surprise Loved it so much she went in twice more lol! Very very unlike her but it cooled her off nicely!

I can't get Buster into the bath, luckily we have a wet room so he goes in there but he hates it. He has to have his lead on and I have to be stripped off. I only shower him about every 4 months though, I just brush him the rest of the time. I read once that this was about right for dogs with no hair on their bellies.

Our Tara doesn't enjoy the shower/bath but loves the fuss when drying with the towel, She'll even hang on for ages before going out for a piss if it's raining but will happily jump into the sea when we're walking on the beach!
We haven't put our new pup Jake into the shower yet so we'll have to wait and see what happens there!lol.

Lola and Gracie will quite happily stand (Lola) or splosh up and down the bath (Gracie) whilst having the shower head also directed over them. Vader has been in the sink and didn't mind.

Dougal on the other hand.... HATES it, I have discovered the only way to get him clean with looking like a pack of mountain lions attacked my arms (scratches) is to get in the shower and hold him in it and then I get covered in dirt and dog shampoo so OH takes dougal whilst I then continue in shower usinf human type shampoo etc the things we do....

Dixie enjoys a bath once she is in there, but lifting the big heffer in there is a mission! rolling on the floor

Rocco however hates the bath - think this is down to him having to be bathed in Malaseb two times a week soon after we got him.

Cilla is terrified of the bath. Since the time she leapt out, hurting her leg in the process and soaking me, the bathroom and the rest of the house while I tried to capture her, I now wash her outside. I fill several bowls, buckets and watering cans with warm water, I have to have her lead on the whole time and she shakes and quivers throughout. She now recognised the bowls and runs round the garden like a mad thing trying to get away when she sees me filling them. It is a stressful time for us both!!

Indy hates the bath, just mention the word and she runs. Once I get her in she's ok and once out and towel dried she runs around so proud of herself.

We tried using the hairdryer on her last time but she wasn't a fan of that.

Generally she's no good with getting too wet, she hates the rain too.

Xan loves a bath - specially the drying afterwards and I use a hairdryer. Luna and Sharky will stand still and enjoy the massage after you've run around and caught them to put them in the bath.
