Re: cropped ears
all docking prohibited in uk now, your rottie was probably born before the date the rule came in.which i'm not sure when it was enforced, think it was about a year ago.

Re: cropped ears
why do peeps need to crop ears,is it ment to make the dog look hard,
i whuld not like my ear to be croped,so why put your dog throw it....
i know that it is done when thay are pups, wich miet not be as pain full for it but it is not nice....
if thay was ment to have croped ears shorly thay,d be born like it....
but each to their own...

Re: cropped ears
It's been illegal for years here. I personally don't like the look of cropped ears, but maybe that's because i think it is cruel - don't like docked tails either!
I don't think docking is illeagal - but it can only be done by a vet and the royal college of vets say that docking for asthestic reasons is unethical and vets will be struck off. So really there is should be no way that dogs can be docked now apart from if they need to be done for working purposes.

Ear cropping has been illegal for quite some time thank goodness but docking tails is recent with the exception of working dogs which I don't agree with because how do you know the pups are going to be a working dogs. Having got a dog that has had part of his tail amputated, which docking is, I would say don't dock any, then if they need it like Merlin did, they can be docked then.
Ear cropping isn't just cutting the dog's ears, they are shaped round a short pole and fixed so that they heal in that position. The pain must be horendous for the pups, what a start to their lives

Re: cropped ears
People crop Staffy ear?? Can anyone post a picture of a staffy with croped ear.... Would like to see how it looks.
I kind of have mixed feeling about cropping ears.
First I would never crop any of my dogs ears, I think it’s cruel and just plain not right.
But for others it’s their preference and choice, I do kind of understand. I think it’s hypocritical to say it’s not ok to crop ears and tail …….. but it’s ok to neuter/fix Dogs. If I was dog I wouldn’t mind too much my ears being cut, but to have my nuts cut off….I would have serious problems!! lol
Turbo will have his ears, tail, and nuts all his puppy/dog years!!

same here, i dont believe in chopping dogs up in any way. I wouldnt wanna have bits of me chopped off so neither will my dogs, unless it needs to be done to save their life.

I understand that it is all personal preference, but i never understand how people can discuss castration and neutering in the same way as docking and ear cropping. Docking and ear cropping can never have benificial affects on the dogs behaviour or stop unwanted puppies, pyometra or cancer!
