My friend from work shot a rabbit for me, gutted it etc and tonight i gave the meat (raw) to the boys. Have to say i didn't feed the bones as i wasn't sure.

The boys totally loved it and i think it was a winner. I only have to see how thier bodies accepted the new raw meat as till now i had only fed raw chicken.

If all goes well then my friend says he can get me as much rabbit as i need free

I've started feeding the wee man a few cherry tomatoes, after he plays with them he eats them lol

I've had a wee look on the net and it seems tomato isn't particularly good for dogs. However, in a BARF diet, all the stuff that's bad for dogs (raisins, sultanas, grapes, onion etc) is encouraged not discouraged. Harley does have a wee bit onion, some raisins not often but occasionally and never gives him any ill effect.

Thoughts please?

This is taken from a BARF site recommended ...

No real reason just thought i'd try her on it .

Done a lot of reading up and seems a very good product .

Of late she seemed a bit fussy with her food , something I think is caused because I work away a lot so she's sad when her pop goes away ....

So started the 20 minute rule , which touch wood , seems to be working a treat .

Anyone else use Orijen .... she really likes it ....

I have been feeding my 10 week old pup tuna in brine and was just wondering if this is ok. From what i understand brine has a lot of salt and dogs arnt meant to have salt is that correct? If not what tuna can you feed dogs. The only awailable option here in australia seems to be either tuna in oil or tuna in brine.

Why don't more people feed raw?

Right I'm not having a go at anyone here! I'm just curious to know why people feed their dogs dry dog food and other commercial foods.

My reasoning is that a lot of posts about diets and allergies, if you give your dog a certain brand of dry food they it seems they either agree with the dog or they don't. Many people then use supplements for dull coats or dry skin etc whilst still sticking their preferred brands.

I'm a massive believer in you are what you eat, for humans and all animals. ...

(borrowed some from a friend with a puppy & he liked it.) but as he is on bakers and no one seems to like this,I wondered what people make of royal canin before i commited to buying it. Its just if people think its not a great food.I would probably carry on trying some others first. Also i have noticed on the back of lots of dog food they want you to say what weight your puppy will be as a adult to give ...

Should patch be fed before or after being taken for a walk? Currently in the morning he will go out for a wee when we wake up, then is fed, then will be taken out for a brief walk. At lunch, he is taken out for a wee, fed then taken for a brief walk again, after work he is taken out for a wee, then fed around 5/6 and then taken out for a fairly long walk and a play on the field. Then he goes out ...
