I have a two page list of things to do with her from the vet and the Physio spent some time with me showing me how to exercise her leg and massage her entire body as she said she is going to be ...

Took bubbles to the vet today and found out he has got Kennel Cough. That's all I need with this going on and Dad died. Any way they gave me drugs to help get rid of it, this will last up to 8 days. They say not to walk him far and if I see another dog to pass them not near each other as they can get it. She did say that bubbles won't get it again once he has it. I don't no if this is true or not. I did thought he was ill because he had eaten some acorns but the vet said that are not not bad ...

Trying to get an appointment with our vet is a nightmare as its a small practice with only one vet, so I cant get an appointment till start of next week. I just hope its not something that needs urgent attention, as I couldnt bear thinking ...

The idea of the operation is to shave some of the bone off and help the pressure go down the bone instead of it going from left to right as it is at the moment.

Recovery time is estimated about 3 months and then after ...

Hi guys, having seen the recent thread on Kennel Cough I though I would share a homemade remedy that was passed onto me by a friend.

My dogs have had Kennel Cough twice and i dont bother vaccinating as they cant cover all the strains, so i feel its pointless. HOWEVER if you do feel your dog is going down hill rapidly take them to the vet, its your dog, your choice.

For those of you who dont like to rush to the vets at the first signs of illness, this is for you

He said that it would be very advanced surgery and we could have barium (don't know how to spell so guessed!) xrays etc and couldn't guarantee that further surgery would totally clear the problem. Hi, Pictured above is my 10 month old Sulley. When he was born his oesophagus was trapped by his aorta. The breeder put him through the required operation which he had a 1 in 10 chance of surviving which he did bless him thankfully for us!!!! He is more like an irish staffie and alot longer legged than my girls but he still has problems swallowing food!! The vets have said that he still could be left with a partial blockage! He can't have dried food at all or food that cloggs in his throat ...

Chocolate toxicity

Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that is a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic.

When affected by an overdose of chocolate, a dog can become excited and hyperactive. Due to the diuretic effect, it may pass large volumes of urine and it will be unusually thirsty. Vomiting and diarrhoea are also common. The effect of theobromine on the heart is the most dangerous effect. Theobromine will either increase the dog’s heart rate or may cause the heart to beat irregularly. ...

Right just back from the Vets!

We have been given some ear drops as he has started to scratch at his ear alot until he wimpers and it bleeds, so we have some Canaural drops for him, to put in his ear once a day for a week to help clear it up. She said also that because he has small ear canals he is likely to get alot of ear infections as he gets older is this true?

As for his Poo's she said, they will send off a sample but it sounds like its something to do with his diet as the chicken ...

Ok firstly quick apology but this is actually a non Staffy request for help and info on behalf of a friend and a JRT.

Our little JRT friend has just had his glands drained and the nurse said they are a bit gritty possibly infected? Going back in 2 weeks for a check.

Any thoughts on why they would be gritty or infected...his brother has no problem and they live together get same fantastic level of care so it seems to be just him?

.. About Patch, he had his worming tablets (1.5 of them as instructed by the vets) at around 4:45pm ish and had his dinner about 5 minutes afterwards. I then gave him a small rawhide bone about 15-20 minutes after that as i needed to do something and he spends ages chewing these.

About 10 minutes ago he was sick! This is the third time he has been sick not today but in general, all after having a tablet of some sort, last time was anti biotics this time worming tablet.

Could he just ...

Amy is nearly 5 months old and it seems that she has only just learnt how to eat properly!! lol

Up until this week she almost hoovered her food out of the bowl - nothing got chewed not even kibble and it was all gone in seconds. I was just wondering about this today,( it's been very quiet here today ) I know she is well fed and wondered if it's because she is teething that she's actually realised now that she has got teeth to chew with?? Sounds a bit stupid but she really really ate fast ...

Patch and Wainwrights

Patch has been on wainwrights since we got him when he was 8 weeks. He has been fine on it and eats it all and has a lovely coat and is generally happy. Recently he has been having rather loose poo's and im not sure what it is. We tried rice and chicken and that cleared it up, then we put him back on wainwrights and he has gone loose again.

Today he has had 4 poos two rather large and soft and the others small and soft/runny.

Any idea's should we try another food?
