Thank you for them Big grin

I have a caravan and tow it all over the country, some caravan sites are a lot better than others and many commercial sites charge extra for dogs. I have known a charge of £5 per night per dog on some sites. The Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravan Club sites don't charge extra for dogs and there is not limit to the amount of dogs you can take.

Dumbledown Farm in North Wales is very popular with dog owners, I will try and find the web site. Everyone who has been there raves about it.

There is also a small flat at St Ives in Cornwall which is very dog friends. If anyone is interested I can contact the owner and ask for her contact details.

We have jus enquired about a site in North Yorkshire and on there website it said 'acceptable breeders' so I emailed the site owner and asked what 'acceptable breeder' were and they emailed me back asking what breed I was enquiring about - I then emailed back stating we had two staffordshire bull terrier and the email I got in reply was that the breed was find but they would prefer us to take our holiday in off peak times as at peak times they had a lot of children on the site Grrrrrrr

Needless to say I will not be making a booking with is site sad

Dog Holidays.

Post by annika on Tue 30 Sep 2008, 20:23

Me and Annika and my wife Christine went with cottages4you to Walkerburn Nr Pebbles in Scotland and stayed in a cottage in Walkerburn fri, sat, sun and had agreat time,we had loads of long walks by the river and up in the hills and Annika loved every minute of it, also the local working mens club let dogs in so we could have sa pint or two and we meet another staffy in there too!
So i do recomend cottages4 you as you can take one or two dogs to the cottages.
Annika, Mark and Christine.

WE have our own caravan at Presthaven Sands in Weles and therefore addy always comes with us. There are only certain lower grade caravans that you can take dogs to if they are Haven owned vans, but some owners also let their vans out. Dogs must always be kept on leads on Haven sites (but you would be suprised how many people dont. Bear in mind that dogs are not allowed in to the entertainment complex.

i can vouch for the www.cottages4you.com website. we were at a lovely house in tianabruich (cant spell that even tho im scottish) called the old mill house, and the owners of the house had border collies, jake had a whale of a time running all over the wee spring through the garden chasing chickens with the other dogs lol, (he was actually a bit scared of the chickens!) fantastic weekend if anyone is looking for a weekend up here, bit secluded though. 2 mile walk to pub!!!!! rolling eyes

We have just booked a holiday cottage in Wales for the OH,moi and the 2 munchkins,Brody & Phoebe.I had looked at various sites but found this one...http://www.thewoofguide.com/holiday-cottage-search.asp posted in the first post on this thread the best for our needs.
So we have a lovely cottage just 100 yards from a "dog friendly beach",enclosed garden and i think this will be most helpful for the dogs there is and outside warm shower to wash the sand/salt off their fur. We'll take lots of pics and vids when we are away but it's not for a few months yet. Smile

Another good place for holiday makers in Australia is www.rainbowfarm.com.au which is in South Australia near Normanville.  Dogs are allowed inside and have the run of a large property.  Lizzy and her friend Lucy loved it.Jenny and Lizzy (jstg)

Re: Dog Friendly Holidays

Post by stick on Fri 10 Jul 2009, 07:09

there is a campsite ive been to each summer for the last 3 years on llyn gwynant (tis is the name of the lake tongue) in north wales. its just outside beddgelert (a small village in nort wales which means "gelert's grave", gelert was the dog of prince llywellyn hundreds of years ago, and has the dogs grave along a walk along the river there. beautiful little village and as dogs gave it its name, it is a very dog friendly place.

loads to do around there and the walk up snowdon is good for everyone, 2 and 4 legged!

the campsite itself has a field set aside for dogs to run around in and also is right on the lake so its great for taking the dogs out for a swim too Big grin if i remember rightly, there is a £1 charge per dog. which in the grand scheme of things is negligable

here is the website http://www.gwynant.com/index.html

beautiful place, healthy for everyone, dog friendly, and i would thoroughly recommend it as a credit crunch beating holiday spot Big grin

and in case anyone is interested, heres some info about the legend of gelert and more info about the area Big grin http://www.beddgelerttourism.com/gelert/
